Children

The Bible has much to say about raising and training children.  Proverbs 22:11 says “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”  In the New Testament, Jesus said “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:14).

The training and nurture of children is close to the heart of God, so we believe it is deserves our very best.

Our Children’s ministry, known as the Gateway Kids, comprises the ages of birth through the completion of 5th grade.

Child Safety

We want children to learn, but we want them to be safe.  When they come to church, parents should be confident their children are safe and well cared for.  Because of this, the Morningside Children’s ministry operates under a strict Child Protection Policy.

Here are a few highlights of our Child Protection Policy:

  • Every adult who works with minor children has undergone a criminal background check.
  • We practice the “two adult” rule, which means no adult is ever alone with a child or group of children.
  • After services begin, we keep outside doors locked until it is time for parents to pick their children up.
  • A security team is on duty, monitoring the outside doors and parking areas, during all services.
  • We have a paging system to notify parents of nursery-age children in case they are needed.
  • A card system is used to ensure that nursery-age children are released only to the proper designated family member.
